Association Football Positions

Association Football Positions

$92.4

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In the sport of association football, each of the eleven players on a team is assigned to a particular position on the field of play. A team is made up of one goalkeeper and ten outfield players who fill various defensive, midfield and attacking positions depending on the formation deployed. These positions describe both the players main role and their area of operation on the pitch. As the game has evolved, tactics and team formations have changed, and the names of the positions and the duties involved have evolved as well. The fluid nature of the modern game means that positions in football are not as formally defined as in sports such as rugby or American football. Even so, most players will play in a limited range of positions throughout their career, as each position requires a particular set of skills. Footballers who are able to play comfortably in numerous positions are referred to as utility players. However, in Total Football tactics, the players are only loosely defined into a position. This tactic required players who were extremely versatile, such as Johan Cruijff, who could play every position on the pitch apart from goalkeeper. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Part of the confusion with American Football position names is that they are based on the role the player normally has in the offense, rather than necessarily his position at the start of the play. Tight Ends, for instance, usually line up to the outside of one of the offensive tackles. However, a Tight End might also line up in the area usually reserved for a Wide Receiver, or even take the place of a Fullback in the offensive backfield; such Tight Ends are usually called HBacks. You also might not be able to tell the difference between the Halfback and the Fullback by where they are lined up. Their main difference instead is based on their role in the offense (Halfbacks run more, while Fullbacks are usually used to block). Rugby League Positions

Rugby League Positions

$70.1

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A rugby league team consists of thirteen players on the field, with four substitutes on the bench. Players are divided into two general categories: forwards and backs. Forwards are generally chosen for their size and strength. They are expected to run with the ball and attack, and to make many tackles. Forwards are often required to do a lot of hard work such as making openings for the backs and gaining metres in field position. Backs are usually smaller and faster, though a big player who can run can be of advantage in the backs. Their roles require speed and ballplaying skills, rather than just strength, to take advantage of the field position gained by the forwards. A little history on football

The chronicle of football is generally traced to beginnings in rugby, fun English which closely resembles football and soccer which also began in England in the 1800s.

History of American Football Positions

$66.91

Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 96 Publication Date: 2010/06/26 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.22 inches

Uniform Number (American Football)

Uniform Number (American Football)

$162.5

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The uniform numbers in American football are unusual compared to those in any other sport. They are displayed in more locations on the uniform than in those of other sports (on both the front and back of the jersey, on both shoulders, and often on the helmet), and on the front of the jersey, they are displayed very large, taking up almost the entire front of the jersey. Just as importantly, certain numbers may only be worn by players playing particular positions; thus the jersey numbers assist the officials in determining possible illegal actions by players.Unlike most other sports, in which teams have smaller rosters, American football players routinely have uniform numbers that cover the full range of numbers from 1 to 99. In other sports, where not as many numbers are needed, lower numbers are more traditional and are usually desired by players. But in American football, with the number of players on a roster sometimes exceeding 100, there is a need for many more numbers. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Fantasy Football (American)

Fantasy Football (American)

$84.44

Fantasy Football is a fantasy sports game in which participants (called owners ) are arranged into a competitive league, earning fantasy points by using the statistics of real football players. The owners of each league draft reallife American football players, typically from either the NFL or NCAA, filling a roster containing the various offense or defensive positions on a team, such as Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Tight End. Depending on how well the players on an Owners team do in a given week, the team earns Fantasy Points to compete against the other owners in the league. If a running back rushes for a touchdown, for instance, the running back earned a predetermined amount of points for that running backs owner. At the end of the season, winloss records determine league rankings or qualifications into a playoff bracket. Most leagues set aside the last weekends of the regular season for their own playoffs, which determines the leagues champion for that season. Fantasy football has become an incredibly popular phenomenon. Why England Lose: And other curious phenomena explained

Why England Lose: And other curious phenomena explained

$4.99

At last, football has its answer to Freakonomics, The Tipping Point and The Undercover Economist. "Why do England lose?" "Why do Newcastle United always buy the wrong players?" "How could Nottingham Forest go from winning the European Cup to the depths of League One?" "Penalties – what are they good for?" These are questions every football fan has asked. Why England Lose answers them. It brings the techniques of bestselling books such as Freakonomics and The Undercover Economist to bear on our national sport. Written with an economist’s brain and a football writer’s skill, it applies high-powered analytical tools to everyday football topics. Why England Lose isn’t in the first place about money. It’s about looking at data in new ways. It’s about revealing counterintuitive truths about football. It explains all manner of things about the game which newspapers just can’t see. It all adds up to a new way of looking at football, beyond clichés about "The Magic of the FA Cup", "England’s Shock Defeat" and "Newcastle’s New South American Star". No training in economics is needed to read Why England Lose. But the reader will come out of it with a better understanding not just of football, but of how economists think and what they know.

Simple NFL Systems – # 18: Early season Match-ups and Pythagorean Win%

Similar to the playoffs, the games earlier this season must be very different from those played disabled after around week 3 of the regular season – when it comes to using methods of the situation.

One of the biggest challenges in this stage of the season is the lack of useful data to competitions recently.

Unfortunately, the pre-season games have never been a good indicator of what lies in store for a team in the first weeks of the regular season. The large number of players who see playing time in preseason, you're finally cut or relegated to second team or third does not work, nor the fact that carp QB and other important actors often take the field only by a handful of plays in the first game, anyway.

All is not lost, however, as there are key statistics for last season they may give a real insight into the games in the first part of next year, and is also the past between the two teams involved can be considered (More on that later).

A key statistics for last season works well as a tool of obstacles in Here the first part of the Pythagorean winning percentage.

Pythagorean winning percentage (GTP) has been developed by sabermetrics pioneered by Bill James as a method to eliminate the effects of "chance" of a baseball team has won / lost record, focusing on the races and go to cons. The formula really works for both the National Football League after a minor "adjustment", the most important which implies the use of points for and against in the calculation instead of "Run".

When compared with GTP team winning percentage is real easy to see that the teams had an overabundance or misfortune, good or bad – of the knowledge that has implications evident to those who try to handicap games today based on past performance.

PWP, which applies to Major League Baseball has seen a number of improvements since James arrived with the idea and the most advanced formula now consider not only race but also the relationship between single, double, circuits, etc., which started production of these routes, with alternative multipliers for the different ballparks, where the score occurred.

Some of these improvements are not applicable to both the game of soccer in North America, where the ground is obviously identical stage to stage, and the original formula developed MLB James continues to be a simple and accurate method of calculating winning percentage of a team which is often more reliable than won / lost records alone.

The formula to calculate the PWP team in the NFL is as follows:

Points by ^ 2.37 / (2.37 points ^ ^ Points + cons 2.37)

An exponent of 2.37 has been found to provide the best results out of the NFL, while 1.83 is the exponent used for the MLB teams. This formula works well when applied to teams NBA, where an exponent of between 14 and 16 is common.

To better explain exactly how this formula works, is probably the best view some examples last season.

New England Patriots are an example of a computer that is "Overtaken in 2007, when his win / loss record 16-0 compared to the PWP.

Anyone who has seen the Patriots play the Ravens in week 15 and lesser extent, its final regular season against the New York Giants would probably agree that New England could easily have ended the season at 15-1 or 14-2 and PWP shows that all these files would have been really more indicative of his game in '07.

On the basis of its points by 589 and 274 points against, New England is committed PWP 0.860 (589 ^ 2.37 / (589 ^ 274 ^ 2.37 + 2.37)).

Given the difference PWP WP 0.140 (1.000 to 0.860) than New England was, in fact, happier than most teams in the league last year, a notice that Ray Lewis and the rest of the Ravens did not discuss doubt.

An example of a team that won poor performance in 2007 would be the Philadelphia Eagles, who finished the year 8-8, however, had a PWP of 0567 (336 ^ 2.37 / (336 + 300 ^ 2.37 ^ 2.37)), which leads to believe they were perhaps more deserved of a 9-7 record.

So how is a team season earlier in the PWP processes of handicap in games early next?

One interesting use of this statistic includes the teams that have had a PWP (always that this meeting took place during the last four years). The teams in this situation are very low, 33-60 ATS (35.5%) since 1994 in the first two weeks immediately after the regular season.

As I mentioned earlier in this article passed between the two teams is of importance early in the season and in this case, teams with low PWP from the previous season was also against an opponent who may be seeking revenge for a defeat relatively recent, creates a powerful combination that has written against the problems line of the last 14 years.

If a situation with a record of 33-60 ATS is sufficiently profitable, there is another secondary condition the last meeting between these two teams when it is added, it greatly reduces the number of parties involved, maintaining a level similar provision.

This requirement relates to equipment which not only won the last meeting, but he has convincingly (At least offensive anyway.)

When they include only teams that have won at least 30 points in this game, the outcome of this situation is reduced to a crushing 5-28 ATS (15.2%) for a small profit of $ 2,250.00 $ 110.00 when the challenge is to regain $ 100.00 against the team in question.

The last condition that I would add secondary to this trend involves something I mentioned before, which is, by comparing the actual percentage winning team with his winning percentage of Pythagoras.

Computers that meet the criteria discussed so far, which has had a winning percentage of .100 UB points at least above their season PWP recent years have been a perfect 3-0 ATS so that by removing their equipment PWP exceeded by a wide margin last season (Ie New England) we end up with a trend that was 2-28 ATS since 1994.

Discover all the details.

(Notes: ASMR Average Margin average skill. A positive score indicates a trend that is stronger than the average over the line, negative – more lower than the average. TDIS% is the percentage of teams in the league who have been involved in this situation at a time or another. Wt% is the percentage of teams that are 0500 or more and SPR is the average difference in teams situation. For more details, see page 13 of my 2008 NFL Game Sheets Guide.)

Association Football Positions

Association Football Positions

The Wheel Offense (DVD)

The Wheel Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Paul Biancardi,St. Louis University Assistant Coach;former Wright State head coach, 2004 Horizon coach of the year;former OSU assistant coach The Wheel Offense is a very efficient offense that leads to high a field goal percentage and points in the paint! His team at Wright State led the Horizon in Field Percentage at 49 percent overall and 48 percent in league play in 2004-2005. It always maintains great spacing, which is an essential part of a productive offense. Described as a series of broken plays, the Wheel can effectively break down the defense. The Wheel includes five positions: Driver, ball side post, weak side post, cutter and wing. Benefits of the Wheel Offense include its ability to force fouls, a goal for Biancardis teams were to make more free throws than the opponent attempts! Other benefits are tempo, interchanging positions, and isolation of good post up players. This offense is open in the middle and encourages penetration by all players to the middle of the floor or along the baseline. An important concept that is necessary in the wheel is “bail out” spots on penetration. The post duck in is demonstrated on the floor as a reaction to dribble penetration in the paint. Reversing the wheel is a concept that allows for flexibility and adaptability. Entries into the wheel include V-cut, L-cut, X-cut and floppy. Floppy is a single/double screening action taken from the NBA. Additional aspects of the wheel that Coach Biancardi emphasizes are many 2-man games, and hand-offs. Biancardi also explains how to recover when the Wheel breaks down. This “driving motion” offense puts maximum pressure on the defense that can lead to many easy baskets!78 minutes. 2007.

Seth Greenberg: The 4-Out, 1-In Slice Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Seth Greenberg, Virginia Tech University Head Coach;2005 ACC ‘Coach of the Year’Coach Greenberg says that offense is not about what is fashionable, but functional. He believes it’s not about what you do but how you do it. Part of an offensive attack is to determine slides and positions for each player when the ball is penetrated. The most important part of developing an offense is the ability to get open. Every offense needs pressure releases to beat pressure man-to-man. The ‘slice offense’ is based on forming a triangle on one side of the floor followed by a post cross screen and a high-low look. When the ball is reversed the next action is a shuffle cut to the open block. As the ball is reversed the action includes a back screen and a double screen for a shooter. Greenberg stresses that post players must “lift” up the floor and seek the ball after screening. Every cut, dribble and screen has a purpose that leads to scoring. Dribble hand-offs can be added at various times within this offense. The key to the ‘slice offense’ is to attack the defense in the full court and half court. Greenberg walks players through their secondary offense as well, which has several options to score.70 minutes. 2008.

Coach VanDerveer stresses that the triangle is a very teachable offense that combines continuity with structure. Keys to the triangle offense are passing and spacing. To accelerate the learning curve for the offense, she uses a 4-on-0 half-court drill. Players execute the triangle and score, and on the following possession, players move to the next position. One becomes the two, two becomes the three, etc. The drill is run on both ends so players rotate from one end to the other. This drill is essential for developing interchangeable positions on the floor. By rotating positions on the move, players are forced to execute and think on their feet. VanDerveer constantly stresses the importance of little things like squaring up, passing away from the defense, getting open and spacing. To make this drill competitive VanDerveer lets the offense keep the ball as long as they score against the defense. Against pressure defense, the forward blast”" creates an open back door cut and lay-up. The dribble hand-off is a weapon in this offense because it is so difficult to defend. This DVD will allow any coach the opportunity to learn the triangle’s secrets and strengths by sharing the breakdown drills run by the Cardinal women. The triangle can yield amazing results because of its spacing, diversity and flexibility. From the Chicago Bulls to Stanford to the middle school level, the triangle has proven to be one of basketball’s best offenses. 64 minutes. 2006.

With Kerry Coombs,Colerain HS (OH) Head Coach;2004 Ohio State ChampionsHaving a philosophy you can believe in year after year is important, according to Coach Coombs, and one defensive philosophy Coach Coombs believes in is the 50 Defense. A disadvantage of the 50 is that it is not great against the pass and is not a penetrating attack. In putting together the defense, everything begins with the nose guard. All line, end and defensive backfield positions are examined and broken down by Coombs. Blitzes, stunts and angling are also part of the overall package. Use of game footage allows for greater understanding of the concepts discussed. The 50 Defense has proven over the years to be a reliable and flexible defense and can help your team win more games. 48 minutes. 2006.

With Tex Winter,Innovator of the Triangle Offense;former Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls Assistant CoachTex Winter has seen and done it all in the world of basketball! Winter doesn’t stake claim as the Triangle Offense’s “inventor,” but takes tremendous pride in being the Triangle’s greatest innovator. In 60 years with the offense, he has developed and modified it to fit many different coaching challenges. The Triangle is assembled piece by piece in this landmark DVD. The Triangle is introduced by Coach Winter’s exploration of his seven principles of a sound offense. Tex states that offensive rebounding and defensive balance is a vital part of this offense. Penetration, spacing, ball & player movement, and utilizing individual talents are other highlighted principles. The “Learning the Offense” segment is a template for teaching the offense to young or new players. Tex shares his well-earned wisdom with his six “Good Coaching” concepts. An organized, well-spaced fast break precedes the half court Triangle action. Proper teaching of all five spots is required. “The Moment of Truth” occurs when the defense exerts pressure in the backcourt as they attempt to slow down the fast break. Winter uses on-court players to demonstrate the offense. A featured breakdown drill is the pinch drill, which incorporates shooting, pinch action and two-man game action. Winter dedicates a section of teaching to playing against pressure. Players are instructed specific tasks as they work as a team to get the ball up the floor against pressing teams. Terminology in the Triangle Offense is very important. Terminology and teaching points in this DVD include weak side guard fill, Blind Pig, Squeeze action, Change-up, fan pass, speed cut, lag pass, inside reverse pivot, front turn, baseline reverse pivot, baseline cuts, playing without the ball, 2-man game, screen and roll, dribble hand-off, two-pass post, Dribble entry, Two pass, Four pass, 1st, 2nd, 3rd cutters. Other techniques that Dixon touches on through drills include keeping hands up on defense, getting in scoring positions and are prepared to catch the ball, the inside jump hook and step through in the paint and more. This DVD delivers the total package for teaching low post players! 42 minutes. 2007.

Motion Offense with Audibles (DVD)

Motion Offense with Audibles (DVD)

$39.99

With Larry McKenzie,Minnesota RipKnees (ABA)Coach McKenzie has run motion offense from the third grade level through his ABA experience. His main premise is that motion allows you to put your five best players on the floor. This motion is a position-less offense that includes roles for each player. Motion starts as soon as the transition game begins. The key is having big guys run the floor hard to the rim while the wings run wide as the ball is being pushed ahead. Ball reversal is mandatory to move the defense. Down screens, double screens and stagger screens are all executed. Isolation of specific players in parts of the floor is a highlight of this motion scheme. Communication, spacing and making reads are important to the flow of this motion offense. The point guard is allowed to call audibles, which are automatic plays. Six audible options are demonstrated 5-0 and 5-5 to show the flexibility of this attack. 36 minutes. 2008.

Lawrence Frank: Early Offense and Zone Offense (DVD)

Lawrence Frank: Early Offense and Zone Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Lawrence Frank,New Jersey Nets (NBA) Head CoachCoach Frank believes that seven principles make up sound early offense. These principles include: Constant flow of motion, spacing, ball movement, player movement, multiple passing outlets, dribble penetration and offensive rebounding opportunities. The key to getting ahead of the defense is the first three steps and Frank teaches running technique to his players. In addition, Frank discusses each player’s specific role in transition. In detail, Frank explores various angles, mismatches and options on the offensive end of the floor. Penetration, rub cuts, post duck-ins and ball movement are necessary for putting maximum pressure on the defense. The philosophy of “help a teammate first” is a big part of the Net’s success in the NBA. This system is simplified to yield consistent results. Many of the actions depend on the reaction of the defense, making it virtually impossible to scout and defend. Coach Frank continues his presentation by showing a wrinkle in his early offense game – early post ups. The next option, if not open in the post, is to reverse and pass to a shooter coming off a down screen. Another special play sells the pick & roll for the benefit of the catch and shoot or drive and kick game. Frank displays his “paint attack” game. Zone offense is a topic also covered by Frank. Vulnerable areas in the zone are the short corner, middle and dribble penetration into gaps. Screening in the zone is a key to freeing shooters. Philosophically, Frank likes quick hitters, where their best scorer is the target. He demonstrates several quick hitters against the zone, including the Chin Set that uses screens against the zone and includes overload action. 118 minutes. 2006.

$39.99

With Darryl Burrows,Five-Star Basketball Coach/Instructor; Dillard HS (FL) Head CoachPre-season workouts are the springboard that helps develop good practice habits. This program is a combination of offense and defensive moves, drills and teaching points. By working on game shots, each player learns body mechanics, footwork and technique. Featured moves that Burrows covers include the step by shot, crossover move, two dribble moves and triple threat moves. Burrows shows how the triple threat position gives the player many options with the ball. He also talks about shooting under pressure and how practicing it develops a tough mindset. The first shot in this series is the straight shot. Other shots under pressure are the step by, crossover, two dribble shots, lay-up and the triple threat. Defensively, the close out drill is a staple in Burrow’s catalog of drills. Drill progression goes from 1-1 to 2-2 in the half court. Pass denial, help and recover are two skills demonstrated during this drill. The 3-3 version of this drill introduces the help position taken by the weak side defender. Burrows also shares his philosophy and drills to develop post rebounding. Post moves include baseline drop step, top drop stop, baseline jump shot, middle shot, middle crossover and baseline step back. This program will develop skills, toughness and conditioning needed for the season ahead! 41 minutes. 2007.

Drills for the Wheel Offense (DVD)

Drills for the Wheel Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Paul Biancardi,St. Louis University Assistant Coach;former Wright State head coach, 2004 Horizon coach of the year;former OSU assistant coach Described as ‘a series of broken plays,’ the Wheel Offense can effectively break down the defense. Coach Biancardi breaks down the drills that make learning this “driving motion” offense achievable. Within these drills, an emphasis is put on cutting, footwork, shooting, stride and jump stop and dribble penetration. One-on-zero is a drill that works on cuts off screens using the inside pivot. The player faces up and shoots off the straight, curl or fade cut. The post duck-in drill develops a key piece of the Wheel. The two-on-zero drill works on penetration, shooting, reading and passing.Biancardi “teaches” the baseline drive and the opposite corner pass plus “one more”. Other drills work on setting up open shots, adding defense, and establishing ‘live’ conditions. Biancardi does an excellent job of breaking down the Wheel into practical drills that reinforce skills and institute a clear understanding of this offense. 46 minutes. 2007.

The 94-Foot Motion Offense (DVD)

The 94-Foot Motion Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Mike Brey,University of Notre Dame Head CoachCoach Brey shares the reasons the have helped his teams become potent, high scoring clubs. He focuses on early offense that flows from the full court into half court offense without hesitation. Brey calls this system “Full Court Motion” and the key is to put the pressure on the defense at all times. Audibles are used in the flow of transition. “Cross” is an audible that swings the wings as post players set screens for them. “Shaping up” is a key teaching point for post players after they screen in transition. This action presents four possible passing options for the point guard. The “shallow audible” will free up a shooter by screening for him with both post players. Against zone defense, the “circle audible” is very effective. The point guard can call for a high ball screen by a post as the ball is being advanced. This system can be coordinated on the floor by the players as they push the ball down the floor. In the half court, Brey demonstrates several entries into motion offense. Entries include loop, two, two cross and six. Full court motion is versatile, adaptable and unpredictable. By using audibles in transition, each possession is unique and plays to the strengths of your team!93 minutes. 2008.

2-2-2 'Deuces' Offense (DVD)

2-2-2 ‘Deuces’ Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Don Zimmerman,UMBC Head Coach;3X NCAA Championship CoachThe Deuces offense spaces the field well to create good dodging lanes from all four corners. Three sets of two players work together in pairs. Typically two players will be behind, two on top and two in the crease. A strength of the offense is using the pick, where one player in the pair frees his teammate. This creates confusion and indecision in the defense. By reading the defenders movement, the offensive player can spring free of the defender. Another teaching technique is the front swing. Zimmerman feels the game is all about deception, and the Deuce is full of deception. The player with the ball is taught to sprint into, through, and out of the pick. Once out of the pick, the man with the ball heads straight to the goal with his stick in feeding position. The second pair is known as the inside men and key techniques are demonstrated to enhance their productivity in the Deuce. Inside men maintain balance by staying opposite of the dodger. The third pair is known as the men up top. When out front, players are always ready to score. By being inside the restraining line, these two players present a dangerous threat to the defense. The straight-line principle is a concept that can really help young players. The Deuces offense will get your team high percentage shots while attacking from the inside and outside! 42 minutes. 2007.

Dave Odom: The 1-4 Offense vs. Man Defense (DVD)

$39.99

With Dave Odom,University of South Carolina Head Coach;National Coach of the Year (’95),back-to-back NIT National ChampionshipsCoach Odom’s 1-4 offense has been one of the consistent weapons in his successful tenure due to its ability to spread the defense, create back door opportunities, bring the defense up and out, has multiple entries and it gives you multiple opportunities to score (making it hard for your opponent to scout). The first option he demonstrates is Power, which begins with a dribble out to the right wing that signals all subsequent action. The preferred options are to feed the post first, and shoot off the down screen second. The next entry is called Post. This option is more about speed than screening and makes decision makers out of post players. The pinch-post becomes the point of good decision making. The hand off is created and is extremely hard to guard. The third option is the wing entry. This pass signals specific offensive action to follow. Odom concludes by adding some of his “special options” to the basic 1-4 movement. Odom preaches that good spacing will allow many scoring options. Timing is important so you can make the right play at the right time. 76 minutes. 2007.

3-Out, 2-In Zone Offense (DVD)

3-Out, 2-In Zone Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Jamie Dixon,University of Pittsburgh Head Coach;2009 Naismith Men’s College Basketball Coach of the Year;2004 Big East Coach of the YearAttacking the zone starts with getting the ball inside the zone. Coach Dixon puts a premium on post players that can catch, pass and make plays in traffic. The first drill is a shooting drill from the baseline to simulate playing against a zone. Priorities are catch, rim, partner, throw opposite and dive. Perimeter breakdown is accomplished by playing 3-on-0 on the perimeter. The point, wings and corners can all be filled by guards. Penetration is a big part of attacking zones and Dixon teaches one hard dribble and jump stop into the zone. In a 5-on-0 alignment, the zone offense is demonstrated using many of the options that Dixon teaches. The short corner is a vulnerable spot on the floor for the defense and can be exploited in this offense. The high post is also an excellent area for the offense. The on ball screen on the perimeter can create penetration into zone gaps causing coverage problems for the defense. Set plays are used early in the possession to create movement and flows into the main zone offensive attack. The benefit of this zone offense is that it takes advantage of areas where the zone is weak and makes it work by using ball and player movement. 47 minutes. 2007.

The Triple Option Offense (DVD)

The Triple Option Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Kerry Coombs,Colerain HS (OH) Head Coach;and Rick Haynes, Colerain HS (OH) Offensive Coordinator;2004 Ohio State ChampionsThe triple option has many benefits: Option football does not require great linemen, it can use time and dictate tempo, it is difficult to prepare for, and simulating the option is hard for opponents to do in practice. At the high school level, having good players at the quarterback, dive back and the pitch position will give you a great chance to be successful. Coach Haynes explores Colerain’s system of triple option football. Haynes divides the line into a quick side and strong side. He presents two blocking schemes against the “50 Front.” The inside veer can be used against a “4 linebacker” look. Running the ball to the “1 technique” is a part of this attack. A double team scheme is taught for specific situations, and is demonstrated on the board in this DVD. Because of savvy defenses, many adjustments must be made with this offense. Haynes goes through a step-by-step approach to making changes during the game. This presentation concludes with game footage, which enhances the presentation. 56 minutes. 2006.

Dan Monson: The Flex/Dive Offense (DVD)

$39.99

With Dan Monson, Long Beach State University Head Coach;former University of Minnesota Head Basketball Coach Coach Monson feels that spreading the floor with shooters and using the 3-point line is important for his team’s success. The Flex/Dive Offense is a motion-patterned offense that spreads the floor to take advantage of the defense. The Flex/Dive Offense provides structure and security for players in the half court and builds a great feel for time and score. The Flex/Dive Offense is similar to the Flex, but is less predictable. Flex cutting principles are present, but an open side and double screening action make the Flex/Dive Offense unique. The Flex/Dive Offense offers a balance between 3-point shots and “thrusts to the basket.” A set play, Crackdown, is a good entry into the Flex/Dive Offense. A key is the corner pop out and wing dive. The circle drill, 4-on-4 to 3-on-3, 4-on-4 on a block and the back door drill are excellent for developing this offense. Monson concludes with three set plays for late game situations. Monson’s philosophy, teaching points, entries, and drills for the Flex/Dive Offense provide a complete look at this exciting offense.67 minutes. 2006.

If nothing comes from transition, the players are already in position to run Hewitt’s “high octane” 4-out 1-in motion offense. To show how to run his offense, Hewitt starts building it from 3-on-0 showing: how to screen, cut and dribble handoff to create easy scoring opportunities. To implant continuity and floor balance, he offers a 3 on 0 drill that requires three passes to create a shot. Developing 2 Gap Lineman for the 3-4 Defense (DVD)

$39.99

With Mike Fanoga,University of Wyoming Outside Linebackers Coach;former New Mexico State University Defensive Line CoachCoach Fanoga’s passion for football begins in the trenches – the defensive line. Fanoga begins with lining up and stance for the D linemen. The ends are backed off the ball about 16 inches and use inside hand. The nose can crowd the ball or back off and has the green light. Stance starts with a wide base, wider than the shoulders and a flat back. The ends take care of the A, B, and the C gap. The nose is responsible for the two A gaps. Fanoga likes the uniqueness of this defense and teaches players on a sweep to read and play right down the line of scrimmage. The technique is lateral steps down the line, which he calls “pound his feet.” Every thing the offense does, the defense reacts to it. The nose is in charge of cut backs in this scheme. In the two-gap defense, players are taught the zone, scoop, base, down and double team blocks. Game footage drives home the technique that Fanoga covers on the white board. Footage of a dozen drills for offense linemen conclude this excellent presentation. 50 minutes. 2007.

These drills not only fine-tune your wrestler’s technique, but serve as good warm-up drills as well. He then demonstrates at least three different counter offense techniques for the single and high crotch. In addition he passes along “tricks” your wrestlers can use to score if his opponent happens to get in deep with any of those two moves. Strobel also covers how to turn double-leg defense into points. Once you get your wrestlers thinking they can score, instead of just defending themselves, their odds to score become better.57 minutes 2002.

Matt Painter: 4-out 1-in Motion Offense (DVD)

Matt Painter: 4-out 1-in Motion Offense (DVD)

$39.99

Matt Painter,Purdue University Head CoachMatt Painter is from the Gene Keady ‘coaching tree’ and has rekindled the Motion offense in the Purdue program. The main motion is 41 and puts the post on the block as four players play around him. The beauty of this system is that all of your practice time is spent on man-to-man defense and motion offense. A good example of this is a competitive 4-on-4 no dribble drill. Without the dribble, the offense must use good set-ups and cuts to get open. One component of motion is post play. This motion incorporates a single low post and a four-man diving to the basket on all post catches. Painter teaches the four-man to cut hard and execute a post screen, a seal on the weak side. Painter teaches his motion as if the defense is switching. This guarantees that his team is always prepared to face any kind of defense. Screeners and cutters work together to get shooters open. The varieties of screens include the back screen, flare screen, down screen and post screen. On the floor, Painter puts players in situations to show the multiple options that are available with this motion offense. 73 minutes. 2008.

Man Down Defense: A Catalog of Drills (DVD)

$39.99

With Lars Tiffany,Brown University Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Coach Tiffany presents a step-by-step development of the fundamentals of man down defense. He begins with a discussion on personnel. A decision must be made between the best defenders and a specialty unit. Players must be intelligent and have a good stick. Man down defense relies on anticipation of skip lanes and the ability to knock down passes and shots. Tiffany has created a catalog of drills that can help identify and improve the personnel for man down defense. The 2 v 1 knock down drill works on the drop step technique and the 4 v 2 drill puts two defenders in an urgent situation and requires communication and changing positions. The 5 v 3 drill addresses the skip lanes. A series of drills get progressively more challenging for advanced players. A drill to develop offense and man down defensive technique is the 3v2/4v3/5v4 drill. A section on terminology is important to define all-important verbal calls in lacrosse. Man down schemes used against the 3-3 offense include the center string, the diamond, 4v3 up top and 3v2 up top. Defending the 1-3-2 offensive, Tiffany diagrams on the white board using both 5 man and 4 man schemes. He then takes to the field to demonstrate many of the drills and schemes. Game clips of the man down defense show the system in action. 105 minutes. 2008.

With Billy Donovan,University of Florida Head Coach; 2007 & 2006 NCAA Champions, 2000 NCAA Runner-up;One of only two people ever to serve as head coach, assistant coach, and player in a Final FourCoach Donovan has mastered the pick and roll offense, which has led to back-to-back NCAA championships, and has begun to duplicate itself in hundreds of gyms across the country. He begins by exploring the philosophy and building of this effective attack, starting with the flat pick and roll by a post player at the top of the key. He teaches the flat option 5-on-0, then shows it in action 5-on-5. Multiple opportunities to score come from this one concept in the half court. Major teaching points in the offense include: reads, slipping, spacing and screening angles. Real game situations are presented to help coaches anticipate their opponent’s strategies when playing the pick and roll offense. Donovan has discovered three main ways the pick and roll is defended in college, and instructs the offense how to counter every move, including the switch and double team trap. When attacking the defensive ‘show,’ Donovan teaches the slip or ball reversal. This offense forces the defense to get back in transition and match up quickly, constantly close out and contain penetration. World Indoor Football League

World Indoor Football League

$73.28

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The World Indoor Football League was an indoor football league that was to begin in 1988 to compete with the Arena Football League, which was playing its second season in 1988. Some of the teams in the league ran into financial trouble before their season was to begin, and thus the league never came to fruition. Like the Arena Football League, the WIFL was to use rebound nets (the AFLs patent on them had not yet taken effect), but only to prevent losing balls: any ball that made contact with the nets would be declared dead. The WIFL also encouraged high offense, but in a different way: instead of restricting the motion of defensive players as the AFL did (and still does), the WIFL proposed using a permanent version of the power play by placing eight players on offense and only seven on defense, creating an 8on7 advantage for the offensive team. It also makes all of your perimeter players a threat because of the constant movement. In this DVD, Bennett emphasizes player and ball movement as he works with perimeter players employing yo-yo cuts, dribble replacement, flash cuts, and more! Bennett also demonstrates what you need out of your big men to produce easy baskets. He shows how to misdirect the zone, screen the zone, use the dribble, and how to take what the defense gives you. He demonstrates how cutting to the “”vacuum”" creates scoring opportunities for every offensive player on the court! In addition to demonstrating the offense, Bennett narrates game clips to show you how effective this offense can be. This zone offense needs to be included in every coaches system! 54 minutes. 2005.

Dean Smith’s Encyclopedia of the Scramble Defense (DVD)

$39.99

With Dean Smith, legendary University of North Carolina head coach;879 career wins; 2X NCAA Championship Coach; 4X National Coach of the Year; Basketball Hall of Fame (’83) Dean Smith’s Scramble Defense is a defensive weapon that changes tempo, forces turnovers and was a major factor in Dean Smith’s success at UNC over the years. The main benefit of the scramble is that it forces the opponent out of their regular man-to-man offense. A prerequisite for employing the scramble defense is a solid, pressure man-to-man attack. Everything comes as a result of players understanding basic man-to-man pressure. Coach Smith begins with the 30 series – the run and jump attack that UNC has used successfully for decades. This is particularly effective after timeouts when the surprise factor is in the defense’s favor. The 40 series is ignited after the first pass to either side of the floor. All players rotate to different positions and jam passing lanes for the errant pass. Both the 30 and 40 series can also be used all over the floor. Out-of-bounds situations, free throw situations, and defending the fast break are all covered by Smith. More than 50 vintage UNC game clips put the 30 and 40 series in action. Also, Smith takes to the floor in a classic, one-of-a-kind, on-the-floor clinic to demonstrate both defensive systems. The scramble defense has become a defensive standard in basketball across the globe, and now Coach Smith breaks down this time honored trapping defense step-by-step, which will allow you to easily implement it into your program! 123 minutes. 2007.

What Makes Up A Basketballs Offensive Team?

In the game of basketball, there are five players allowed on the court from each team at one time. When the team has the ball it is called Offense. What makes up an offensive team? And what are roles of each of these offensive players?

The positions have a title and a number.
Point guard is number one.
Shooting guard is number two.
Forward guard is number three.
Power guard is number four.
Center is number five.

Now lets walk through each of these positions.

The Point Guard (number one) in basketball is like what a quarterback is to a football team. The point guard needs to know the game of basketball thoroughly. They are the player who will direct the offense on court. The point guard will be able to handle the ball, dribble with either hands with their head up and be a good passer.

The Shooting Guard (number two) is typically the teams best outside shooter. Preferably from behind the three point line. This player is also a good ball handler with good judgment, knowing when to shoot and not shoot. Normally, but no always, the shooting guard will bring the ball in.

The Small Forward Guard (number three), dont let the name fool you, this player can be any size. They too should be a good ball handler. Their strengths are that they are quick on their feet and can move the ball away from the defense more efficiently. Also they should have the ability to drive to the basket and make quick jump shots.

The Power Forward (number four) player will be your best inside shooter. Not only will they shoot well from underneath and on rebounds, they will be able to shoot well from the corner and high post area. This player will be strong and a very aggressive rebounder.

The Center (number five) is typically the tallest person on the team. They are a good rebounder for both offense and defense. The Center should know how to play with their back to the basket. They will also have strong, aggressive moves on offense.

Understanding what skills are needed for each of these five offensive positions will help any player who wants to become the best basketball player they can be. Good luck and remember learn the game, play the game, and have fun doing it!

They are the player who will direct the offense on court. The point guard will be able to handle the ball, dribble with either hands with their head up and be a good passer.

The Shooting Guard (number 2) is typically the teams best outside shooter. Preferably from behind the three point line. This player is also a good ball handler with good judgment, knowing when to shoot and not shoot. Normally, but no always, the shooting guard will bring the ball in.

The Small Forward Guard (number 3), dont let the name fool you, this player can be any size. They too should be a good ball handler. Their strengths are that they are quick on their feet and can move the ball away from the defense more efficiently. Also they should have the ability to drive to the basket and make quick jump shots.

The Power Forward (number 4) player will be your best inside shooter. Not only will they shoot well from underneath and on rebounds, they will be able to shoot well from the corner and high post area. This player will be strong and a very aggressive rebounder.

The Center (number 5) is typically the tallest person on the team.
